JONENE, A.K.A. Jonny Phelps, is native to California and known for throwing down his chunky and funky San Francisco sound. Jonny began his music career in the eighties playing keyboard and programming drums for New Wave bands. He transitioned to DJing in 1992 because of his love of live performance and growing interest for the electronic music his best friend, DJ Dan, and Mark Farina were experimenting with at that time. JONENE has since played a key role in the development of West Coast Funky and Jackin House music scene as a respected producer with dozens of releases on his own label, Panhandle Music, and others. He has performed countless times all over the world and is a resident DJ at the ultimate San Francisco get-down, STOMPY, which inspired co-founding STOMPY.com, an online music store designed by DJs for DJs. He is a successful party promoter on the West Coast and in Austin, Texas. And, he is proud to be sponsored by the Extrastrength Disc Jockey Company (ESDJCO) for the last fifteen years.
